ISLAMIC, Umayyad Caliphate. temp. Yazid I ibn Mu'awiya, AH 60-64 / AD 680-683. Fals (Bronze, 21 mm, 4.22 g, 2 h), Arab-Byzantine type, 'Pseudo-Damascus' mint. Imperial figure standing facing, holding long cross in his right hand and globus cruciger in his left; in left field, short palm branch and T; in upper right field nine-pointed star. Rev. Large M in center; above, monogram; below, officina mark of inverted crescent; around slightly blundered legend reading 'darb dimashq ja'iz' ('current issue [of] Dimashq' in Arabic).
